How is the gold gram price calculated?

Gold is quoted internationally in US dollars per troy ounce. One troy ounce equals 31.1035 grams. To get the gram price, divide the ounce price by 31.1035.

To convert to euros, the prevailing EUR/USD exchange rate is applied. The euro price fluctuates based on both the gold price and the exchange rate.

The displayed price corresponds to pure 24-karat gold (999 fineness). Jewellery gold typically has lower purity:

The price of one gram of gold is calculated by dividing the troy ounce spot price by 31.1035 (grams per troy ounce) and converting to your local currency. This page shows the live calculation.
Why is the gold price per gram different from the ounce price divided by 28.35?
Gold uses troy ounces (31.1035 g), not standard ounces (28.35 g). The troy ounce is approximately 10% heavier, which explains the price difference.
What is the difference between 24k, 18k, and 14k gold price per gram?
24k gold is 99.9% pure. 18k contains 75% gold and costs about 75% of the 24k price per gram. 14k contains 58.3% gold. The karat indicates the proportion of pure gold in the alloy.
