How Much Is Your Jewelry Worth? Karat Value Calculator
Enter the weight and karat of your gold, silver or platinum jewelry and calculate its value at real-time market price.
How the calculation works
1
Select the metal
Choose whether your jewelry is gold, silver or platinum. You can calculate multiple pieces of different metals separately.
2
Enter weight in grams
Use a precision scale to weigh the piece. Most kitchen scales measure to one tenth of a gram.
3
Select karat or purity
Look for the hallmark stamped on the jewelry: 750 = 18k, 585 = 14k, 925 = sterling silver, 950 = platinum. If unsure, choose 18k for gold.
4
Get value at spot price
The calculator multiplies the pure metal weight (grams × purity) by the current spot price fetched in real time.

Frequently asked questions about gold value
How do I find out the karat of my jewelry?
Look for the hallmark stamped inside the ring band or on the clasp of a necklace. Common marks are 750 (18k), 585 (14k) and 375 (9k). If there's no stamp, a jeweler can test it for you.
Will I get the calculated price when selling?
Not exactly. The calculated price is the intrinsic metal value at the international spot price. Jewelers, pawn shops and gold buying companies typically pay 60-80% of spot, depending on their commercial margin.
Why does gold rise during uncertainty?
Gold acts as a store of value and safe-haven asset. During economic crises, trade wars, or high inflation, investors buy gold as protection, increasing demand and pushing prices up.
How much is 1 gram of 18k gold worth today?
1 gram of 18k gold is calculated by multiplying the pure gold gram price by 0.75 (75% purity). With gold near $3000/oz, 1 pure gram is worth ~$96, and 1 gram of 18k gold is worth ~$72.
Prices are indicative and based on the international spot price. This does not constitute a purchase offer or financial advice. Actual resale value depends on local market conditions, piece condition and buyer margins.
